Naturally, his "you gotta do what you gotta do" knowing that Bok-ju's purpose for attending the weight clinic isn't actually to lose weight, makes her lose her temper. Joon-hyung has this knack for saying things as they are, and it can sometimes prove frustrating (for someone like Bok-ju) coz you know he's right, but it still doesn't quite appease you in the way that you want to be appeased. This was another great moment because it just goes to show how well Joon-hyung knows Bok-ju by telling her exactly what she needs to hear, even though she doesn't quite see it that way. Turns out that he does end up catching that cold from Bok-ju, and it couldn't be worse timing coz he's got a swimming competition coming up - eek! In the next moment, he runs into Bok-ju (complaining bout the cold he's caught), who opens up to him about being moved up in weight class. *sigh* guess you're just going to have to wait your turn, Joon-hyung! I mean any other male friend would typically retort back saying "you're dead meat" or would simply move away in disgust, but for Joon-hyung, it's clear what's playing on his mind, and he was so ready for it too!! Ah, see what I mean bout the two not quite being on the same page yet. After sneezing so nonchalantly in his face, teasing that her force virus, is "swag" (no kidding!), he quickly retorts by saying if he catches a cold he'll return it to her by kissing her, "just you wait"! Omo, is that your idea of a threat!? I can't even.! What a boyishly cute comeback!
But seriously, how great is bold joon-hyung, who pretty much pours his heart out every chance he gets. Sigh, not that Bok-ju would notice such a good thing when she sees it.
But no, not this drama, no siree! I love how this drama messes around with traditional tropes! It's so Tangled, but with added weightlifting spunk! What a great turnaround! The amount of times dramas have made me cringe or die of second hand embarrassment when the girl ends up shutting her eyes and puckers up to the hero's delight is just too many to count. He was only moments away from puckering up, I kid you not!! =)) =)) =)) But wait!!! That's not the Best bit!! The best bit is when he actually shuts his eyes before she sneezes. And that sort of compliment would make anyone die of happiness!Īnd as if that weren't enough to bring about the feels, Bok-ju moves in to grab his face (after some bonding time) and.sneezes in his face. He's embraced her for who she is, and the way she is, without expecting more. What's great about their little heart to heart isn't just about his re-assuring her that she's still attractive as a woman, but the fact that he's finding common ground between them as sporting athletes, and the qualities which come with it be it mental or physical, is what makes Bok-ju, Bok-ju. And it was super sweet of Joon-hyung to brush those insecurities away with a few words of encouragement, saying how such things don't matter, and how he would love it (her hands), labelling them as "sporting medals". The way she opens up about her crush, and how she doesn't feel good enough for someone like Jae-yi (or anyone for that matter) due to her callus hands gives us a good insight into Bok-ju's insecurities as a woman. He doesn't have to tread on eggshells anymore, as the two have naturally bonded over time, taking their friendship to another level. What I loved most about this moment is seeing how close they've gotten over Jae-yi, enough for Bok-ju to open up about the way she feels, and for Joon-hyung to ask questions about it too.
